Salò Residential Complex
Located in Salò, Italy, this proposal reimagines a former ENEL heritage site as a space where history and contemporary design quietly converse. It brings together private residences and a public cultural center on the ground floor, reflecting a commitment to integrating with Salò’s cultural landscape. At its core, the design seeks to honor the character of the original building, using architecture as a bridge between eras. My contribution during the design phase focused on creating that bridge, keeping the past alive within the skin of the new.
Introducing materiality and reflection as a way to express the passage of time, water as an integral element and creating spaces for air, movement, and new memories. Functional elements, like operable panels, serve both practical and poetic purposes. They shape light while guiding the gaze through time. In this way, the architecture tells a quiet story of respect and remembrance, of layering time rather than replacing it. What began as a poetic expression evolved into a functional proposal. The project is currently in a testing phase, exploring market response and local engagement as the vision continues to evolve.
