In the ‘studio for an artist’, design elements strive to convey a sense of simplicity and give space to light. The studio had hosted several renowned artists over the past century, including Urban Larson, with whom I spoke directly about his experience of living and working in the space.
As I spent time there, the design emerged from these traces: the light filtering through large windows, off-white walls with a touch of green to soften the sun, angled curtains that gently diffused light, and a spatial openness that invited calm. These subtle elements guided a design that continues the studio’s original spirit.
The result is an intimate yet luminous space, featuring flexible translucent dividers, where the main visible material is chestnut wood, revealed from the original structure of the house.
